High speed stirbar for 5 gallon bucket. Uses computer cooling fan with magnets epoxied to fan to rotate the stirrer.
Most plastic 5 gallon buckets have a small dimple in the middle of the bottom of the bucket. I designed this stirrer to sit on that center dimple and rotate.
I use 4 neodymium magnets which are 6.5mm diameter. Ensure the magnets are oriented so the proper polarity will cause attraction to the magents on the computer fan.
Parts Needed:
1 - computer fan 80mm to 120mm
2 - neodymium magnets from an old hard drive
4 - neodymium magnets 6.5mm
1 - steel washer approx 35mm
4 - machine screws
8 - machine nuts
epoxy
Cut off the fan blades
Epoxy the 35mm steel washer to the fan motor. Press on the side of the washer while the motor is spinning slowly to center the washer before the epoxy dries.
Epoxy the two neodymium magnets from the hard drive onto the steel washer. Algin the washers so they are symmetrical and balanced.

Epoxy the 6.5mm neodymium magents into the holes on the bottom of the stirrer. Ensure the correct polarity of the magnets so all magnets attract and do no repell.
Add the 4 machine screws and 8 nuts to make a spacer so the fan does get stuck to the bottom of the bucket and stops turning.
