UPDATE 1/6/2019:
Added "40mmfan+BLTOUCH+partcooling.stl" that includes a mount for a BLTouch. Offsets for the probe should be: "#define NOZZLE_TO_PROBE_OFFSET { -26.3, -31.5, 0 }". This part is designed for the standard heatblock, not a volcano.
UPDATE 12/20/2019:
"I added two new models for people that want to use this extruder/hotend with a volcano heatblock. The "mount-volcano-block-45-degree-5015.stl" and "mount-volcano-block-90-degree-5015.stl". The former is designed for use with the prusa 45 degree fan shoud/nozzle, and the latter is designed to be used with a 90 degree prusa style fan shroud. I recommend this 90 degree fan shroud: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3063554
I added "mount-standalone-no-part-cooling.stl" which just holds a 40mm fan for cooling the hotend, but has no mount for a part cooling fan. This design should work with the ABL mounts provided by trianglelab.
I slightly modified and improved the "mount-standard-v6-block-45-degree-5015.stl" for use with a standard e3d v6 heatblock and the 45 degree fan shroud."
ORIGINAL POST:
"I wasn't happy with the heatsink cooling fan, part cooling fan duct, or the 3d printed mounts that came with the al-bmg-air. The kit comes with a 3010 fan that is badly obstructed and hardly pushes any air. I did not have any heat creep issues with the stock 3010 fan (it is doing some cooling), but the heatsink got up to around 44C to 48C while printing with a hotend temp of 250C (measured with a thermocouple near the bottom front of the extruder). This mount replaces the 30mm fan with a 40mm fan. While printing with a hotend temp of 250C, the heatsink now stays much cooler (around 35C to 38C). I am using a 4020 fan, but i think a 4010 will work just as well.
I recommend printing this model in PETG, ABS, or nylon because part of it will be in direct contact with the warmest parts of the heatsink and other parts will be fairly close to the heatblock. Support is required for this print. My suggestion for getting easy to remove supports with PETG using cura 4.3.0: enable a support roof with a thickness of 0.4mm, search "fan" in the "search settings" bar, find "fan speed override" and enable it, then find "supported skin fan speed" and set a fan speed here. I use around 30 or 40% but you may need a different value depending on your cooling setup.
This mount also lets you attach a prusa style 45 degree part cooling fan duct which is much better positioned than the duct included in the kit. I have included the fusion 360 model so you can easily make your own changes/remixes/modifications to work for your needs. This fan mount is NOT compatible with the auto bed leveling mounts that come in the kit because i think the fan duct gets in the way where i have it positioned, but I'm thinking the fusion 360 model could be modified a bit to add ABL options. I don't currently use any ABL systems so I'm not comfortable making any mounts because i cant test them."
REQUIRED HARDWARE:
Quantity of 3 M3x45mm socket head screws (the kit "Ender 3 kit" i purchased comes with 35mm screws that will not work)
Please consider posting any makes or remixes. I'd love to see them.
