This is a Diverter or Indexing head for Hydroponics or Aquaponics. This is a wet and low pressure diverter designed for 1" PVC pipe fixtures. My intention for the diverter is to have a single circulation pump which returns to the tank. Overflow from the tank is gravity fed to the diverter, then to 4 grow beds. I'll be using a 1" high flow pump for my setup, so I'll have two overflows which feed beds along with an emergency overflow in case the system backs up.
The rod is connected to a stepper motor with a coupler. The stepper is driven by Arduino connected to water level sensors in each of the grow beds. When a sensor is triggered (indicating a full tub), the stepper is driven to the next index. On the coupler is a epoxied magnet, with a magnetic sensor to detect location.
Code to drive the diverter is located here:https://github.com/ooeygui/aquaponics/blob/master/Diverter/Diverter.ino
NOTE: Requires MCAD scad extension, as well as included external files.
Update 3/17
Added an indexing plate and a model of a roller switch. Next change will be to make the drive axle coupler and mount for the roller switch. I'm going to punch a hole through the riser so that the motor can be pipe clamped to the PVC feed pipe.
Update: 11/28:
Massive refactor. Downsized the stepper to a Nema17. Integrated the stepper motor mount into the inlet. The diverter cap is now bolted to the bell.
