I am getting into Bolt Action (about to start my third army). I've gone back and forth about which bases I like to use. I end up using PVA+sand on most of my miniatures, so the textured bases I will find and print here usually go to waste. I have also grown accustomed to gluing a 1" fender washer on the bottom of all of my miniatures. This gives them some much-needed weight, and also allows me to line my carrying cases with magnetic... paper? to prevent the minis from rolling around.
So in the end, I wanted something that was a little bigger than the standard Warlord base, with a lip on top, no texture required, but I also came up with the idea of being able to hide the washer in the bottom. So, after a couple of tries, this is what I came up with. If you print these upside down, which is counter-intuitive because that leaves you with an ugly top surface, the washer will fit like a glove and once you scrape away the support material on the top, you're left with a textured surface to glue your mini on, add PVA + rocks and sand, or mud, or whatever, and you're good to go since that material hides the ugly overhang.
I found an old loose mini I got on clearance, glued him on and threw on some sand then a quick prime job. Included a pic of the washer glued on bottom (it's perfectly flush), plus incl a pic of v0.1 that showed the rough top surface after support was removed.
This is my first Thing ever, so go easy on me. :)
EDIT: Made some small improvements and added 2 and 3 man bases.
