2001 Series - Discovery 1 Concept – Dragonfly Version

This model represents a concept design for the Discovery 1 spacecraft from the 1968 movie 2001: A Space Odyssey created by Harry Lange and known as the “Dragonfly” design. This configuration closely matches the description of the spacecraft found in Arthur C. Clarke’s novel. The wing like appendages are radiators which would dissipate any excess heat produced by the nuclear engine.
