I wanted an easy way to insert and remove batteries for charging. I modified One_Ying's battery holder design to use magnets as the contacts. I had some magnets from a damaged brushless motor, I made the holes for the magnets are about 2.5 x 7 mm. Magnets cannot take a lot of heat, so I wrapped a wire around the magnet and hot glued it down, it works fine, soldering would have been much hotter than the hot glue, and I'm not sure if it would stick.
I also found out that most of the RC model battery chargers (instructions: https://hobbyking.com/media/file/705098054X7478X35.pdf) have a setting for Lithium Ion batteries like the 18650 (it displays as "LiIo") so you can charge as fast as you dare, Although I read that the normal charge rate for the 18650 batteries I have is 1.25 amps. You do not need the balance leads if you are charging a single cell.
