I've had this wooden puzzle cube on my coffee table for years. Today, I decided to make a similar version, but with some added embellishments. I designed mine with shorter end pieces, so the overall assembled puzzle is more compact than the original wood puzzle, which is seen in the photo above.
You'll need to print 12 of the pieces to make the puzzle. For assembly instructions (cheater!) refer to this:
https://woodgears.ca/puzzles/12-piece.html
It's not identical, but the steps are exactly the same up to the way the last piece fits. This is because in his version, the cutouts on his blocks are all the same - 100mm long, divided into 5 20mm sections. Mine has three 25mm sections in the middle, and the end "caps" are 5mm. It's close enough to enable you to solve the puzzle, though.
The piece is designed with .5mm clearance on each mating face to allow for print dimension inaccuracy and ease of assembly.
Edit: v3 - shortened the ends, made the recesses a bit more shallow.
Edit: v4 - attempted putting a fillet on the edges, which turned out really badly - too many gaps between the pieces, so I scrapped v4.
Edit: v5 - increased clearance on all sides from .2mm to .5mm, redesigned the recesses, and made the ends slightly thicker to help with bed adhesion due to v3 and v4's ends curling up. Make sure you use supports so the bottom recess prints correctly!
