Free interpreted model of the Zeus-altar in Pergamon (Bergama, Turkey). Build about 183 BC by Eumenes II. on the occasion of the victory over the celtic Gallata. Nowadays You can visit a reconstruction and the original friezes in Berlin (Pergamon-Museum). The altar has been excavated and exported by Carl Humann and Alexander Conze in the 19th century. The base-platform of my model depends on the digital relief model of google earth. The slope of the relief model seems to me very high and in reality more softly. Despite this facts platforms have been needed to build large buildings in ancient Pergamon. The outfit orientates on the model in Berlin and plates of Jakob Schrammen: Altertümer von Pergamon (Band III,1, Tafeln): Der grosse Altar - der obere Markt Berlin, 1906. But my Telephos-frieze is limited by the inner court. The Giant-frieze covers outside the enclosers of the temple. Their order is the same like in the Pergamon-Museum in Berlin. The photos are taken by Clemens Pobloztki (http://secondpage.de/index.html) . Thanks for the permit to use them. There are also some differences to other models. I have used pillars instead of columns in the second row of the entry. The columns are simplified. My reconstruction does not include the latest archaeological discussions. #Bergama #Berlin #Pergamon #Pergamonaltar #Pergamonmuseum #Rekonstruktion #Zeusaltar
