This cap helps stabilize the threaded and smooth Z axis rods, preventing wobble in the threaded rod and thus separation between the Z nut and the wooden assemble the nut rides on. In particular, it prevents the nut from separating while the extruder carriage is lowering.This cap also includes a filament guide to help keep filament out of moving parts with printing.I you have a problem with the Z nut separating from the socket that is supposed to hold it, use this cap along with my Z Nut Clip for the PrintrBot Plus v2.1
