XA-8 Star Dagger Starfighter

Republic Fleet Systems once had a near monopoly over the Republic Navy's starfighter catalog. Only facing mild competition from CEC's S-250 Chela. With the advent of the Great Galactic War this was no longer the case. Rendilli and Corellia Stardrive both were heavily favored. The Aurek-Class tactical strikefighter that once was the spearhead of the Mandalorian Wars was relegated to light combat roles. Hoping to regain the marketshare they'd lost Republic Fleet Systems developed the XA-8 Star Dagger. In essence a fusion of both their Aurek-class and the earlier Star Saber XC-01. While larger and less customization than it's competitors, it was able to compact down to a much narrower frame, had significantly more firepower built in, and was blisteringly fast. The Dagger was a premier superiority fighter but lacked anti-capital ship weaponry and it's maneuverability was limited when strike foils were extended. When weapons were recessed the dagger was capable of incredible turns.
