The Wilder Dam is located on the section of the Connecticut River between Wilder, VT and Lebanon, NH originally known as the White River Falls. In addition to the power generated at the Wilder Station, the site provides an important recreational contribution with boating, fishing, picnicking, hiking, and a visitor’s center. The area was host to 115,198 guests in 1971. Nowadays, the entire Wilder project consists of rolled fill earth embankments forming both abutments, a Visitor Center overlooking the fish ladder and tailrace area, non-overflow bulkhead, powerhouse with forebay intake and spillway, all of concrete gravity construction. The spillway is equipped with tainter gates and stanchion flashboards. For more info please visit: www.creatinghartfordvt.com #dam #history_of_hartford #white_river_junction #Wilder
