Beercan to cookpot conversion utilizes lids like these ( in metal) to keep out the creepy crawlies and to quicken the boil of water in the container; HIkers and backpackers have been using this configuration because its cheap and very lightweight.
I've added a "sippy" type drink-dam and a whistle to alert you to a boil. The lid shown is a snap on version . It prints in two parts with the outer ring cone up and then glued with a lexan adhesive ( they should be printed in Nylon or Polycarbonate to withstand the heat). Alas, the snap on version will only work in the specific thread shown, it "might" fit other cans .. The last version just lays on top of pot and won't whistle unless held in place by screw ring, and then the center hole is usually filled by a silicone nub for a handle or a wooden knob to fit, the drink hole also must be plugged off
for the whistle to work. I will shortly upload a insert with a
mason jar thread that will slide into the cut beercan and then this lid will be held in place water tight with a regular mason jar ring...
