This is a WDT tool I made after seeing the relatively few options out there. I had printed off this tool, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4573913 which was sort of a design inspiration. I did all my own design from scratch for this, however.
I wanted to have 8 total needles, a circular array of seven and one in the middle. Additionally, I wanted knurling on the cap in order to be able to remove the cap easier, a different cap in order to hold the needles down better, and a threaded case so this could go in a barista's bag or in a drawer without risking a hand or the needles of the tool itself.
The knurling patterns are all different, as I used this design as an excuse to learn how to do knurling myself. The threads are all coarse 1/2-13 threads, in order to better facilitate mating & support less fine 3D printers.
I printed all the parts in one go on my Prusa MK3S, 0.2mm layer height, 10% gyroid infill, with 3 perimeter walls in PLA with no supports.
Potentially, the needles are perhaps too close to each other. I would appreciate any feedback, and if they are to close (promoting clumping rather than fixing) let me know and I'll redesign it.
This design supports 0.4mm printer needles & 0.35mm printer needles. My 0.35mm needles had a portion of the head that needed trimming, the 0.4mm needles did not. Additionally, both sizes need the actual needle section trimmed to fit in the case. This is by design, both to blunt the needles, and in order to reduce their flexibility. I recommend between 1-1.5", but the case can support needle up to 2" in length.
Final image in gallery shows correct orientation for printing in your slicer.
