Warren Baptist Church

Warren Baptist Church has been a part of the lives of the people in southern Columbia County for many years. In 1920 a pastor/evangelist named Emmanuel Bjorkquist moved to Warren and started a church. As you might imagine with a name like that, he was Swedish and the church he started was a Swedish Baptist Church. At that time there were a large number of Swedish immigrants in the Warren area. All the services were in Swedish. In 1924 the first building was purchased. This building still stands directly across the highway from our current location. Over the years it was remodeled and added onto several times. As new generations grew up less and less people spoke Swedish and English became the language the services were conducted in. The Swedish Baptist denomination became the Baptist General Conference but Warren Baptist Church was still a part. In the late 1960’s property was purchased and a new building started to accommodate the growing congregation. In 1969 the current sanctuary, fellowship hall and classrooms were dedicated.
