Warm water sun panel 2

In this design I used red copper pipes. I did flatten the middle section of the pipes until the inner distance of the sides was 2 mm. To flatten the pipes I used a device I build myself. Bottom and top pipe are 22 mm. The flattened pipes 16 mm. To drill the holes in the 22 mm pipes I made a wooden mould, so upper and lower pipe are drilled the same and all would fit together in a good way. Then I made a wooden mould to hold everything together at the right place to solder everything together. First I did all the pipes at the bottom, then turned all upside down, and did the other side. You will have to solder all pipes and muff’s together on the bottom pipe in one move, going from one side to the other, so be sure to have enough solder in reach. To connect the flattened pipes to the 22 mm pipes I used muff’s which I did saw in half. The diameter of the drilled holes is the same as the outer diameter of the muff’s, so they would fall into the pipe. Therefore I “damaged” two points at the bottom side of the muff with a screwdriver to prevent them from falling in. It’s a lot of work, specially the first time, you’ll have to figure out the moulds and then make them. But after that it’s a lot easier for the next panel.
