This is a placeholder object for 3D designers. It was rough-modelled based on the critical dimensions of a real-world object. It has three intended uses:
A virtual placeholder. Import it into your CAD program and then build around it. This helps you position features like mounting holes, and allows you to visualise the design as a completed whole.
A subtractive tool. Use it to subtract a space from another shape, like making a knife sheath by using a model of a knife blade to cut a hole into a block.
A measurement aid. Open the STL in Netfabb Basic and make virtual measurements from it.
A physical placeholder. If you design a holder for your phone, for example, you can print a placeholder for testing instead of risking your phone.
This is a model of the extruder block from my Wanhao Duplicator i3 Plus. I used it to design the GUST i3 print cooler. Files included are:
The X axis bracket that holds everything to the rails.
A Micro Swiss hot end and cooling block
The stepper motor, extruder gear, heatsink, and cooling fan for the extruder block
A file that incorporates all of the above.
Each comes in the following file formats:
Fusion 360 project (.f3d)
Standard for the Exchange of Product model data (.step)
Stereolithography (.stl)
