This is a pair of attachments for the HTC Vive that allow the headband to be replaced with the Jackson Safety 370 welding headgear, found here:
https://www.amazon.com/Jackson-Safety-Replacement-Headgear-Adjustable/dp/B004RIFGE6
The adapters attaches to the sides of the Vive via the metal loops that are normally used to attach the elastic headband. This allows the Vive to be "flipped up" and stowed above the head when not in use, and also offers the ergonomic benefits of the welding headgear.
This adapter was very much an experiment, and the design is inspired by a similar adapter for a different headgear found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1620362
I have several improvements to make in the next version, for example I've just learned that the side hinges can be snapped off completely (13:07), so an adapter could be attached directly to the Vive itself. Additionally, I'm yet to do anything with the Vive's third top-center attachment point, so the Vive is currently prone to tilting forwards and putting pressure on the nose/cheek bones. Despite this, the current adapter functions fairly well!
Anyway, give it a print and let me know what you think - also, this was my first model in OpenScad, so feedback would be very much appreciated!
