What is Vice Guitar?
This is a new guitar using a vice.
The neck and the body do not exist unlike other string instruments.
This guitar works by fixing head, bridge and strings to an object.
You can attach and stretch this device to any object that has certain length and solidness.
It transforms things around you into your personal instruments, and you’ll discover a totally new vibrancy of unbeknown materials.
Since Vice guitar put priority on the enjoyment of “instrument-fixing random materials, “playable-ness (whether easy to play or not)” is not in focus.
If you really take care of “playable-ness”, why don’t you go out and explore your ideal material?
You might run into unexpected things, or you might learn something more important than “playable-ness”.
This practice of playing music by a random object you encounter, is to leave the emerging timbre to the attribute of the material.
Taking this “timbre of material” as the “melody of environment”, I call this exploration of (the blessing of) melodies and this pursuit of the nature of playing music as “Vice Guitar Project”.
