USS Panther (AD-6)

This is my rendition of a ship similar to the USS Panther. Originally built the 'SS Venezuela' by the William Cramp and Sons company in 1889, the cargo freighter was commissioned on and off by the U.S Navy from April 22, 1898 to May of 1922. She began her naval career as a troopship during the Spanish-American War. In 1902, the Panther was recommissioned into the Caribbean Squadron as a training ship. In September of that year, she served as a station ship during the American Intervention in Honduras. Recomissioned again 5 years later, she served as one of the four auxiliary ships in the Great White Fleet of 1907 - 1909 and operated as a Submarine Chaser and destroyer tender in WWI. #1889 #auxiliary_ship #Great_White_Fleet #navy #Panther #SpanishAmerican_War #steel #Submarine_Chaser #US_Intervention_of_Honduras #USS #WWI
