The USS Behemoth was a Ship of the Line class, but its performance on the seas brought it to a class of its own. With over 100 cannons on both sides, the USS Behemoth could arguably be one of the most dreadful and powerful ships during the 18th century. Commanded by Captain James Kirk, the USS Behemoth easily took out the most powerful enemies. Only the finest and most experienced crew could serve on-board the Behemoth, thus lowering the crew compliment to only 24 men- half the number required on a typical Ship of the Line ship. Built in 1770 and launched in 1771, the Behemoth was considered by some to be an 'invincible giant that's not worth shooting a cannon at'. Many people claimed, that in 1775, the USS Behemoth sank 10 British Navy ships within 1 hour of launching. In 1778, the USS Behemoth took minor damage to the hull. She was repaired, and was put on display at the Boston Harbor the following year. The ship can still be viewed today at Boston Harbor. Most of the cannons were removed, and the interior of the ship has been modernized with bathrooms and lighting. #Battle_Ship #Behemoth #Clipper #Elegant_Ship #Frigate #Galleon #Grand_Ship #Hull #Majestic_Ship #Powerful #Powerful_Ship #Sailing_ship #Sails #Schooner #Ship_of_the_Line #Ships #Sloop #USS_Behemoth #War_Frigate #War_ship
