Parametric, fits any peg! Ladies and Gentlemen, start your calipers...
Wooden clothes pegs! I hate them! Seems like barely a few weeks in the Aussie sunshine and they fail! The wood can be splintered with a hammer and fed to the worm farm, but there's that 302 stainless spring! What a waste! So, I've designed a repair that'll use the spring and the unbroken side, replacing the broken bit with eternal PETG. The OpenSCAD code's included with the STLs, tweak it to suit your clothes pegs.
So, why repair? Repair things, reduce consumption, reuse things for another purpose and, only if you can't do one of those things, recycle. I have a postman who rides a motorcycle past my gate every day, and the brand of filament I use is made 3 miles (5km) from my place, online store only. One car trip saved, or bicycle trip, in my case, I don't run a car. So I've neither driven to buy new pegs, not driven to buy filament. I've in fact, added value to the postman's daily route.
I staunchly believe we need to repair more and buy new less often. We need to repurpose single use containers as storage, rather than buying storage and throwing out those single use containers. We need to design and make things ourselves, with what we have at hand, before we buy new. I have repaired lamps for my workshop, my family and friends. I make gifts where I can, now. Because I believe the only way we'll get over the mountain of plastic trash in the world, is to stop throwing shit out.
And that's where 3D printing comes in. Our Tronxys, our aNets, our Crealities, etc, are t-model Fords, on the road to Star Trek replicators. Our electronics workstations, replete with Arduini and ESPs are the holodeck. I'm too close to 60, yet I believe we will see, in my lifetime, machines that will take our plastic bottles as filament and print all manner of useful things for our homes, offices and schools. There will be no more waste. There will be an appliance that will turn it into useful things, useful raw materials for industrial things or compost for home food gardens.
And we, citizens of the thingiverse, will be the engineers, hackers and visionaries of that future. The matter revolution begins.
And, oh sweet xmas! Do I want a Creality CR-30 when they become available! (PETG-CF and aluminium cargo bikes! Yay!)
