U-Channel Modular Linkage System
This is a project I did for my Public Design studio course. The course prompts us to find design opportunities in the public arena. Inspired by the modularity of the U-Channel sign posts across American cities, I designed a connection piece that mounts on the U-Channel post and is expandable to realize different functions. If you want to know more about what this is, I strongly recommend you to download the pdf presentation booklet.
The most simple function is the small hanger. You will need to print a set of Connection, Nut, Hanger, Key, and a Zip-tie block to make it work. In addition, you will need a zip-tie as well. Most small to medium sized zip tie will work with the zip-tie block.
If you want to use this connection system to mount a flat panel, you will need to cut two 1'' diameter holes on the surface that are X inches apart. (The holes on U-Channel Post are patterned at 1 inch increment)
I am sure I have not covered every perspective of the project, but if you have question, please ask me. I would love to talk more about my project.
For those who are interested in making compatible designs, you can check out the connection interface here: https://a360.co/2IxVDMW
