“Two Sunsets” is a 625 yard par-5 finishing hole situated on Great Island, part of the Cap Cod National Seashore on Wellfleet’s Harbour. From the back tees, the drive is 300 yards to a downhill landing with undulation that favors a long ball finds a shallow tidal pool. Bunkers come in to play at 230 yards on the left side. A well placed drive sets up for a slight dog-leg right to a bailout strip fairway at 170 yards that is partially covered at high tide and slopes to the right where the beach head forms a natural hazard, or a 280 yard approach shot to the middle of an hour glass island green where bunkers protect any runoffs. Pay attention to the flag, a second shot to the green would have to factor in an ever-changing sea breeze coming from both the Cape and the Atlantic across the mainland. Going for the hole in two may send you packing to the local “Library & Bomb Shelter” where you’ll find plenty of Wellfleet Oysters and libations to drown your sorrows. Birdie this hole, and stay to watch the seals feed and frolic during low-tide at sunset. http://www.nps.gov/caco/planyourvisit/upload/FinalGGGreatIsl.pdf #Golf_Digest_Dream_Hole_2010
