These are patterns generated by two wave sources at same frequency as in a ripple tank. Simulation was performed with online wave simulator https://www.falstad.com/ripple/) and the B/W image captured at full screen and used to feed the "Image to 3D" function in Simplify3d.
The resulting .STL file is based on the light and dark in the B/W image, but it is very coarse. The mesh was subdivided, twice, and controls refined in Silo to produce these two files, one large (34 mb) and the other larger (137 mb from 2 subdivisions).
Printouts are "hairy" and need work. By lowering the model in the printout and not printing any base layer, a screen can be made as in the last image. Same applies to the other wave images I'm uploading. Very cool room dividers in 3d, or, could be laser cut.
