don't get me wrong, the purchased ones do sorta work, and you can buy them and use immediately, but if you want a rock solid solution and are ok with 10 minutes of work...
I ordered this connector from arrow.com and direct soldered myself. for strain relief + something to grip to remove, you can just cover it in hot glue, or you can print what i designed here.
i like this solution because
1 it's low profile, meaning it doesn't pull on the iron while you're using it,
2 you can use whichever wire you want, i suggest around , i think i used 20 gauge silicone? super flimsy. I use it on 6s so it's super low current.
3 lastly but most important of all, it doesn't ever turn off your iron by accident. all the ones i've seen don't plug in all the way ( you can tell by feel when you compare it to my way, and also i think the spec for connector length is in the manual. and nobody sells that connector in their power cables)
connector link from arrow.com. 40 cents each. super fast and free shipping.https://www.arrow.com/en/products/ppm-2-5525-sg-wt/cui-devices
