Building located near port terminal cruises and close to 'Puerta Real' (Royal Door, the most relevant entrance to 'Plaza de María Pita' / María Pita Square, where is the Town Hall), with typical glassed facade named 'galería' and very characteristical typology, so this boulevard is known as 'Crystal City' of La Coruña. This is composed by the functional joining of two buildings, but in single ones, the characteristic geometry of the site (narrow in the main facades and elongated in the lateral ones) is due to the shape of the traditional fishing nets: the fishermen, needed a site to extend their elongated nets to repair them (sewing by hand). By other hand, the glassed facades facing south, are a heating and cooling free bioclimatic traditional system: in winter the sun heats this glass facade (greenhouse effect), while the holes (doors) in the thick stone wall existing next to the 'galería' and windows facing to usual courtyard located in the middle of the building, remain open, generating a convention stream that heats the house, but in summer the windows facing the sun, remain open (insolation surface reduction) at the same time, the opposite facade windows (north orientation = air cooler) are also open, generating a cooling stream inside the house.
