The elders of the internet devs and admins of reddit had some fun this April first with the introduction of r/place. It's a community generated masterpiece where each user was permitted to place one pixel of any color they choose on a canvas every five or ten minutes.
At first there was noise, and from that noise there was chaos, and from that chaos there was order... and memes.

This 3D thing is an extruded heatmap of each pixel's activity for the full 72 hours of r/place. Higher points represent the most active pixel areas. A 16px Gaussian blur was added before 3D extrusion. Source heatmap was generated by /u/opl_
