This print was designed by Uncone Design in order to bring awareness to an ongoing public health crisis. Feel free to print these and give it to your friends and family, but when you look at the gadget please remember the following:
COVID-19 is a serious public health threat. Currently, there is no cure and viral spread is occurring rapidly all over the world. Over 160,000 have been confirmed worldwide and death toll over 6500 and accelerating. This is NOT just another flu (20-40X death rate), we are NOT going to have a cure in time (not in the next 12 months), and hospitals working close to capacity (most hospital emergency capacity is already at 65%+) as we speak, any spike in emergency patient inflow will result in dramatic climb in the death toll. This is why social distancing is critical in the coming weeks.
Please take it seriously, practice social distancing, stay away from all crowded areas, avoid meeting people in close proximity! Those at the highest risk rate (age 60+, smokers, lung diseases, heart disease, diabetes, immune-compromised) should stay at home unless an emergency. Currently, in the USA there is no viable detection for the virus due to criminally low availability of test kits. We have tested only around 10,000 people in the US with over 24% of them positive results. The absurdly high positive test result shows a severe lack of testing kits. As such we have no way of knowing who may be carrying the virus and no method or quarantine outbreak areas. Though younger crowd have low mortality rate, those infected will carry the disease and spread it to more people exponentially which will lead to a dramatic increase in the death toll.
Currently most hospitals in America only has a few ICU beds with ventilators avaialble to take on additional patients. If this respiratory outbreak illness is not contained, hospitals will quickly run out of equipments to deal with new influx of patients which means the death toll will begin to incrase sharply. Estimated 15-18% of all COVID-19 patients will exhibit severe respirstory and cardiovascular syndromes that will require hospitalization. With proper care death rate is 2-5%, without available medical capacity or equipment, death rate will incrase to 15-18% of all infected. So stop saying it's a flu, stop saying it's 2%. For those 60+ in Italy and Iran at the moment, contracting COVID-19 is a death sentence. This was exactly what happened in Wuhan and is unfolding in Iran and Italy at the moment. Social distancing and society level quarantine is meant to dramatically slow down viral spread and thus save lives.
Please be considerate, practice social distancing, this is not a vacation. Stop hoarding food and supplies unnecessarily, stop going to stand in line at Costco next to 500 people waiting for toilet paper. THINK!
