Built on two floors, this comfortable and environmentally-sound home is situated on a 498ft lot in Toronto, Ontario. Implemented within this design is a unique cooling and heating system that incorporates the use of rotating panels that are black on one side and a reflective silver on the other. These panels have been programmed to revolve around the house dependent on the position of the sun throughout the day. According to the season, the panels can be rotated to absorb heat and provide warmth to the house or cool it completely by reflecting the sun’s rays. This system efficiently decreases the over-consumption of energy that correlates with the constant operation of a heater/A.C. thus reducing an individual’s carbon footprint and yearly household cost. The exterior is also entirely made out of glass, an easily accessible, recyclable material that helps to enhance the home’s visual appeal. The home’s simplistic design yet advanced function makes for a perfect starter-up for a family of 1-2.
