remix of JKSnipers great tilted adapter.
change to the original design:
added spacers the size of the original fan. To reuse the screws holding the old fan in place ;).
some info collected so far:
The Noctua is a a LOT quieter: https://youtu.be/1zGFZx2_k2c
However the cooling is less effective and it adds weight.
See attached graphs (ambient 30 degree celcius; bed was not heated).
I'll update this thing if I notice issues printing (so far ... none).
Assembly:
taping the new fan to the extruder motor made mounting and placing cables easier.
Cabling:
connect red-red and black-black. Yellow/pcm cable tuck away.
Make sure after everything is in place Y-Axis end stop is still reachable fine.
--- update 26.6 ---
Fan:
any 40mm should do. Not sure if it should be PWM type.
Obviously the lighter the better.
The one in the picture and the test-video is Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX.
For reference, Noctua states on the package for 12V usage:
rotation 4500 rpm - airflow 8.2 m3/h - accustical noise 17.9 dB(A) - static pressure 1.78 mm H2O
Experience after some printing:
Still enjoy the quiter operation a LOT.
However, the fan used is actually a bit overkill since it is a lot quieter also than the print cooling fan.
A fan with a bit more noise and a bit more throughput would be optimal.
