The TIE Bomber was, simple enough, the primary bombing starfighter in use by the Galactic Empire. The TIE Bomber was larger, and less maneuverable than the TIE Fighter in that it was used in destroying enemy capital ships and pinpoint-precision bombing, hence its name. Due to its slower movement and bulkier design, it was made a slightly easier target for Rebels to destroy, which meant that they have to be supported by standard TIE Fighters or, if available, TIE Interceptors.
