This model deipcts the various animals used for transport and by the cavalry during the time of the Roman Empire. The animals shown are all average for their time, and are all to scale. Also included at the far right of the scale is a modern thoroughbread race horse for comparison. As can be seen, the horses used by the cavalry during the time of the Roman Empire were considerably smaller than contemporary horses. The model of the ox is a modified version of an original model by John Irwin. The small cavalry horse is an original model by liz..
