Valentin Alexandrovich Serov (1865-1911) was the great Russian painter, and one of the premier portrait artists of his era. He had friendships with Ilya Repin, Mikhail Vrubel and Konstantin Korovin, and worked in creative atmosphere of the Abramtsevo Colony, to which he was closely connected. Princess Zinaida Nikolaevna Yusupova, (1861, Saint Petersburg, Russian Empire - 1939 Paris, France) was a Russian noblewoman. She was best known as the mother of Prince Felix Yusupov, the murderer of Rasputin. See the model: 'The portrait of Prince Felix Yusupov by Valentin Serov'. The Yusupov's family acquired their wealth generations earlier through extensive land grants in Siberia, and they owned a string of profitable mines and fur trading posts. There was a time when Yusupov's were the richest family in Russian Empire. #Abramtsevo #Alexandra #artist #atmosphere #Colony #Empire #Feodorovna #France #fur_trading_posts #great #Grigori #Ilya #Konstantin #Korovin #land #man #Mikhail #mines #Moscow #murder #Nicholas_II #Nikolaevna #painter #Paris #portrait #Princess #Rasputin #Repin #richest #Russia #Russian #Serov #Siberia #St_Petersburg #Tsar #Tsaritsa #Valentin #Vrubel #Yusupova #Zinaida
