Yet another Y-Axis upgrade for the Tevo Tarantula. This one uses two 8mmx400mm linear rods and two 8LUU (longer version) linear rod bearing holders.
Center to Center spacing of the 8mm rods is 152.58mm. Originally was going to make a composite PETG and Aluminum bed support bracket, but after printing out the two center pieces of the support bracket out of 3DXTech's CF PETG, (and totally botching drilling one of the pieces of Aluminum), decided to make the rest of the bed support out of CF PETG. One of the pictures shows one of the two bed support center pieces with the Aluminum plates (2" x 1/8", cut 220mm long).
The two center pieces can still work with Aluminum pieces as shown in one of the pictures. Drill template included in the files.
Have included several test files so you can find the right fit for your printer to print out to fit the 8mm rods snug. Print the Rod End Supports with the 8mm holes facing up and with support. I printed these pieces on a CR-10 printer, as my Tarantula was partly taken apart. I printed the rod supports in PETG 0.2mm/layer. 25% infill, 5 layers top, bottom, outside.
Printed the Carriage/bed support bracket parts at 0.1mm/layer in 3DXTech CF PETG on Flash Forge Creator Pro with Micro Swiss all metal hot end upgrade on a glass bed. Printed 5 layers bottom, 10 layers top, 5 layers outside, 25% infill.
There is a very small hole in the bottom of the 8mm hole to allow air to escape when inserting the 8mm rod. When both rods inserted into the rod end supports, the outside measurement of the rod end supports should be 406mm. The bed will have 302mm of movement along the Y-Axis.
A new Y-Axis limit switch mounting bracket provided with an offset for the mounting holes to allow mounting closer to the motor mount. I printed this in 3DXTech CF PETG at 0.1mm/layer (same as bed support brackets.)
Not in service as will be taking apart the Tarantula for further modifications.
2017 august 09 - Had a request to make the holes for the 8mm rods "thru" holes. So 8mm rod holder brackets with the word "thru" in there name are just that.
Hardware:
Eight 4mm x 14mm bolts to secure to sliding rails
Eight 3mm x 14mm bolts with locking nuts to secure the bed parts together
