A tessellating bird. All the pieces are identical, and the symmetry involved is absolutely fascinating. By placing symmetry points in a basic, tessellating geometric pattern you can make an almost infinite number of tessellating shapes. In this one, the symmetry points are placed in an equilateral triangle, which makes the shape tessellating. If you wonder how this works, Google M C Escher and read some of the articles about his work. I don't think you'll regret it. This thing, and the Gecko (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1542107), I hope to use as a teaching aid for a practical approach to teaching symmetry.
