I recently acquired a mini, USB powered tesla coil off of Ebay for about $20.00. Was really excited to see that it actually worked pretty good when I received it. Wanted to make something cool to show off to my friends at work so decided to make it into a 5V USB powered CFL lamp with a USB charging outlet for my phone.
Created the base box for this in Fusion 360 and printed it out on my Duplicator I3. A little soldering and hot glue and I was in business. Also had a Gas Discharge Nixie Tube laying around and decided to top the coil with that for a little extra effect.
Works great and a really neat way to show off wireless power using a harmless voltage to power a normally 120V bulb.
I did prepare the base drawing for a 1.5mm thick bottom plate with screw holes but wanted to get the base built first and didn't really need it. So if you want a cover plate you can design one pretty easily.
