I thought that a great spool holder should have the following properties :
Easy to build
Minimal Filament use for building
No bearings or other parts than prints ( as it is not needed for such use !)
Low frictions in rotation
Nice design
The filament spool can be removed and changed with a different colour easily .
Can cope with multiple spool types in width, and in spool holes
Can stand without being screwed
Can be screwed on a wood platform
There must be some Filament guides to prevent filament going off track
a dust filter is needed to filter
can be use as a horizontal or vertical spool holder, as you wish.
Teinturman's spool Holder is my proposition to fullfill all these requirements :
The key concept is that there is no transverse axis : the bushing are rotating on each side of the spool holder, and it is possible to bend the legs to put or remove a spool easily.
Many screw holes are prepared to allow any mounting you want, and especially to mount nicely within the teinturman's enclosure :
It is possible to slide the legs in width, to adapt to small or large spool holders.
The default Bushing is 52mm diameter.
The bushing can be changed relatively easily by removing the pin. I will provide soon a parametric bushing thing , so that you can make the ones that you need.
In some cases, it would be nice to have a bushing that works with 2 sizes, but that is for future enhancements.
