My Y axis stepper motor shaft sheared off after less than a year of printing. The stock mount height results in the stepper pulley raised up about midway on the shaft, creating a relatively large bending load on the shaft. This could lead to a failure such as I had.
This new mount design raises the Stepper motor about 3.5mm resulting in the pulley being just a paper thickness above the stepper body itself, reducing this bending load on the shaft to a minimum. Otherwise it is exactly as stock and you can use all the hardware that came with your original Taz to install it.
When setting the pulley height on this new mount, place a sheet of paper between the bottom of the pulley and the top of the stepper when tightening it. This will ensure you don't have the pulley rubbing on the stepper while operating.
