Erected by the people of patan in loving memory of her highness, the late Badha Maharani “Tara Rajya Laxmi Devi”.

Jointly with her husband, major general Maharajah - Sir Chanda Shumsher Rana, honorary colonel, 4rth gurkha rifles, she provided this city with a system of water mains and supply when it was a particularly a new thing in the entire country. People of this area got excellent quality water because of this. She died in 1905 AD. When the autocratic Rana Rule ended in 1951AD, countless sculpture, shrines and buildings that Ranas built were destroyed by protestors all over the nation. But her statue has been here ever since..
