Tan-Y-Deri is the Welsh word meaning 'under the oaks.' Frank Lloyd Wright chose the name for this stained-shingle home built for his sister Jane and her husband Andrew Porter in the ancestral Lloyd Jones Valley. The building was constructed in 1920. I re-created this home from 1995 Charles E. Peterson Prize Winners: D. Groth, J. Krupka, A. Lynn, R. Mastalski, P. McGuire, K. Schaack. Drawn bt Shubert J. Timmerman of the University of Wisconsin. The drawing files are kept in the U.S. Library of Congress' Digital Collection. There is some artistic license taken as the shingles were changed to bricks with the landscaping, and height of the stucture are not completely accurate. #Frank_Lloyd_Wright #home #house #TanYDeri
