1/4 inch cold roll was a common material in the U of M Engineering Mechanics Laboratory. It has sulfur in it. It work hardens. It slags when you weld it. It's cheap for it's weight. This one was bored on a Bridgeport end mill .003in interference with a 3/4inch ground drill rod used as a pin. It was cut on a DoAll bandsaw and ground to a circular radius on a large vertical belt grinder. It might be a bit big as fitted overall but the car had a 100 hp V-8 7 years before and had been breaking transmissions and a final drive with a V-8 of 225-270hp. Time for a bigger rear end with a 4 link location arrangement. Sixteen of these tabs with different bottom configurations either longer or with a concave circular shape to weld to axle tube were made. In May of 1965 the car headed for California and a job in some sort of lab. You can find some of the cold roll material in my previous project. I will include the spherical ball end and pin parts here in the render area. I will then present renders of the item and it's assembly.
