This is a patient-specific blood flow model designed to investigate the efficacy of surgical repair for a disease of the aorta called coarctation of the aorta (or 'COA'). The model includes the aorta, supra-aortic branch vessels, and fittings to incorporate the tubing needed to deliver a blood mimicking fluid. Also included are post-processed images of a 3D magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exam which measures blood flow through the repaired section of the aorta (both 'in-vivo', i.e. in the patient and 'in-vitro' i.e. in the flow model). The repaired section is indicated by arrows showing where the coarctation previously existed. For more details regarding the imaging and patient demographics please refer to the case-study below:
