The first steps of learning numbers must be haptic, easy and fun.
by comparing the hight of each number you can easily visualize the value behind an abstract symbol - namely the roman numbers we all know and love (more or less).
So the first operations (add & substract) will become understandable.

for me it was a neat lession in drawing in fusion360 ontop of a picture
