Introduced around the mid to late 1970s, Sturdivan was a line of van based school buses built by TPI Sturdicorp in Suffolk, NY. which later became US Bus and now known as Trans-Tech. It's competitors include Coach & Equipment's Fortivan, Van-Con, Shirley Van, Collins Bantam, Ward Coachette Lo-Boy/Hi-Boy/Minuteman and Mid Bus' Superior 63/68(Minuteman). Sturdivans were originally built with flat tops but beginning around 1979 or 1980 the more familiar oval top style was introduced. Other notable products from TPI Sturdicorp include: SturdiBus, a Type-A product. UniVerse, an SRW variant of the Sturdibus. Lastly, SturdiTrans, an adult transport product line of the Sturdivan. This Sturdivan was owned by Sampson Bus Incorporated, a major school bus contractor in the Alola Region.
