Stereo Speaker Box (3" FRS 8 Visaton and similar) by Teslahed

This is a simple speaker box which I designed for some cheap Visaton FRS8 3" 50w speakers. It was designed using 'that looks about right' and couldn't be much larger to fit on my 200x200 printer bed.

Print it with at least 20% infill (more might be better) and support for the speaker holes. This is a low detail item so use the largest layer height your printer supports to speed up printing. I have found PLA produces surprisingly good sounding speakers because it's stiff and strong if you make it thick enough.
It took me about 27 hours to print the box, 10 hours to print the lid, and 3 hours to print the handle. All parts printed on a cheap Malyan M150. If you are good at wood working you could make one the old fashioned way quicker.
The speaker has mounts on the back to take a cheap Chinese Class D audio amplifier.
The whole thing sounds pretty good and can be turned up quite loud for a small system before I hear bad distortions. It sounds like a good car stereo.
This makes a good portable audio system. It can be battery operated because it's Class D and so more power efficient than other types of amplifiers. The amplifier has bluetooth support for phones, a traditional line in and also an SD slot so that it can operate as a standalone MP3 player, which is nice. It will last for a day on a battery pack made from 18650s and days if you have an old 6 cell 10,000mAh LiPo lying around like I do. I also power it from an old laptop charger when I want mains power.
With a little work you could probably use a different amplifier and I am sure some different 3" speakers will fit if you double check the sizes.
