static electricity generator, maybe the new energy source of tommorrow

this is a model of a possible static electricity generator. sand or some other grainy material is loaded into the generator which is made of insulative material, then it is blown around, which sperates the electrons which then spark onto a metal rod that feeds into an electrochemical storage battery, pretty cool right?
