Update 2019.8.6
added windowed versions of the full lids (thin and 1kg). Get the base models from original Spannerhands thing
Update 2019.1.28
update base and lid models: ears are better optimized for printing
BASE2: change form, requires less material
added universal 1kg and 750g core, uses 608 bearings
added lip model, to be used inside the container. I've had some problems with some spools unraveling inside the box, this should help with it
more rigid bolt
Update 2018.12.29:
properly aligned the models so the brackets should align better now
added thin bases and lids. NOT tested yet, but looks good on preview
added 16mm and 20mm cores, for small spools like Taulman nylon. Needs the SMALL_CORE_bearing and SMALL_CORE_axle
TODO:
universal core to replace all the ~50mm+ cores
way to stop filament from unfolding from the spool and causing jams
Update 2018.3.22:
add new lid2 windowed version with the window frame part. I've printed it myself, but haven't assembled yet, don't have anything translucent to use yet.
The space for the window thing is 46x46x1 mm.
updated the cores with a version that has a small dent on the bearing rim. The way to load the airsoft pellets/bearing balls in is to use the dent to force the balls in. The parts should give just enough to get the balls to pop in. This is a bit tricky as you'll have to keep the core center stationary when there's only few balls in the bearing.
Spannerhands original model is great, but as I'm always overthinking things, I ended doing some mods to the small volume 1kg version.
So the mods:
added brackets for M3 nuts and bolts for tightening the base and lid parts together. I don't trust glue but that's just me :)
added M3 nut indents to the brackets that need screws. Easier to assemble
added printable M8 bolt and nuts. Debatable if this is great or not, seems to be working even though the bolt bends. Probably need to print with high infill
PTFE nozzle with 4mm hole, for M5 thread PTFE coupler
work in progress cores that use airsoft pellets as bearings
Got few of these printed and seems to be working great. The cores are WIP.
TODO: maybe windows, and 750g version...
