This .blend has a wireframe look thanks to two materials: one is wire and is above the other, that is solid, both in the same model. No UVs, no duplicate objects, no nodes compositor. Just the old classic Blender Internal (for Cycles there is one that's cool). I upload it because I haven't found any wireframe material that satisfies me, so here you have one.
