The snap cube is useful; the Kawai joint is mathematically appealing. I wondered, "Why not marry them in one design?" There you go: a 20mm^3 cube and Kawai joint (half a 20mm^3 cube) in one piece. They are designed to be fairly loose so children can assemble or disassemble them easily. There is a mirrored piece just in case you need some. A Kawai pair is also included to support more open-ended construction.
Obviously, the snap cubes allow rotation; the Kawai joints make rigid linear or perpendicular connections. Together, they support diverse constructions. Kids only know! So print a pile of them and leave them with some third or fourth graders and watch! Thanks for visiting.
