Important Update 22-08-2016
please do not print and try to make the current version of this design! The path that the belts follow are not correctly setup this way, they are not perpendicular.
see discussion at RepRap forum:http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?344,563301,656013#msg-656013
I made the mistake trying to create as much effective build volume within the boundaries of the cube, while not taking into account some basic ground rules for CoreXY.
My bad...
Update 10-07-2015
changed Zbottom_belt part for better attachment of the stepper motor
some optical changes to some parts
updated assembled stl for viewing of current revision
Update 10-04-2015
I have found a simple way to use Optical Endstops and a couple of pieces of a tiewrap to trigger them.
part YSlide_Bot_Endstop has been changed to YSlide_Bot_X_Endstop_tiewrap and includes a slot for a piece of tiewrap to be mounted
new part YSlide_Bot_Y_Endstop_tiewrap has been added which replaces the YSlide_Top_Bot part, which also has a slot for a piece of tiewrap.
new part Y_Endstop_holder has been added to mount a Optical Endstop on the right stepper motor
removed Endstop_Holder part which is not used in this design
added BOM with prices

Some of you may already have seen my 8mm rod parts for the SmartrapCore standard version (thingiverse).
I have been adapting more parts to suit my needs for the experimental version I have designed.
Since Smartfriendz released their ALU version and upgraded standard version to Onshape, I have been playing with them while learning Onshape.
The experimental part of this is to see if a design with cheap 13mm square Alu tubes from Hobby King would work for a cheap and easy to assemble SmartrapCore version.
While I like the Smartfriendz design very much I found that, for the size of the box, the buildvolume could be a little bigger. I felt the newest itteration lost some width in the X axis.
I altered the standard parts to:
use 8mm smooth rods
use copper self lubricating bushings i.s.o. standard bearings (parts are now simpler in design and need less assembling)
make the X axis as wide as possible within the standard alu square tubes of 400mm
raise the X/Y axis a little to make the belt path possible on top and as wide as could be
I designed the corner braces for the bottom and top. The ones on top have both the steppers and XY_bearings_LR integrated.
Designing and using these parts, I was able to get a 250mm X axis buildplate size (300mm between the YSlide_L and R minus the 50mm of the Head part).
The total build volume is 250x300x300 (XYZ).
